Questions
Is a masked Aadhaar valid?
UIDAI offers masked Aadhaar, which shows only the last 4 digits, and encourages people to use it where the full number is not required. Some services do need the full number; ask if you are unsure.
Can the hidden digits be recovered from the file?
No. The covered parts are painted over in solid colour in the saved image, not blurred, and the original photo details (EXIF) are not copied.
Is my Aadhaar photo uploaded to read the number?
No. The text reader and the QR finder run inside your browser. The photo never leaves your device.
It missed the number. What now?
Drag across the number on the preview to cover it yourself. Automatic reading works best on a sharp, upright, well-lit photo.
