Questions

What photo does US online passport renewal need?

The State Department asks for a colour JPG, PNG or HEIC from 600×600 to 1200×1200 px and between 54 KB and 10 MB, on a white background, taken in the last 6 months, with no filters or retouching, and not a photo of a printed photo (travel.state.gov, checked 26 Oct 2026). We make a 1200×1200 px JPG that is never under 54 KB.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Face detection and background removal run in your browser. Your photo stays on your device.

Will it be accepted?

We follow the published size and framing rules, but acceptance also depends on light, expression, glasses and how recent the photo is. Always check the current official rules before you apply.
