Questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is re-encoded by your own phone or computer, using the video encoder built into your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is private and there is no upload wait.
How much smaller will my video get?
Phone videos usually shrink by 50–80% at Balanced with little visible change. Lowering the resolution to 720p, capping at 30 fps or removing the sound saves even more.
Can I compress a video to an exact size in MB?
Yes. Type the size, for example 25 for email or 10 for Discord. We work out the bitrate from the video length, lower the resolution if the size is too tight for sharp HD, and try again if the first pass lands slightly over.
Which formats work?
MP4, MOV (iPhone), WebM and MKV in; MP4 (H.264) out, which plays on every phone, WhatsApp, email and website.
How big can the video be?
Up to 500 MB per video on the free plan, 2 GB with Pro. Speed depends on your device: a recent phone or laptop compresses a few minutes of 1080p video in about real time or faster.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on phones and computers. Some older browsers cannot re-encode the sound; if that happens we tell you, and Chrome or Edge will keep it.
